Need to calculate values based on category

I have 2 tables:

ID Type Value
1 A 3
2 A 3
3 A 4
4 B 4
5 B 3
6 C 2
7 A 4
8 A 3


And

Type Total
A
B
C

I need to "total" column to automatically display the sum of the values for the categories A, B and C. Is there a formula I can use for this?
