Cell summing through referencing neighbor cell contents

    Hi Guys,

we have a Excel 2010 worksheet containing multiple tables.

    Table1
    ColumnA ColumnB
    1 Blue 12
    2 Orange 14
    15
    11
    3 Red 10

    Table2
    ColumnA ColumnB
    1 Blue 11
    2 Black 13
    15
    11
    3 White 10
    19
    17

On a separate worksheet we want to calculate with the first worksheet's values.

    For example:
Calc1: Sum ColumnB IN Table1 WHERE ColumnA = Orange

How do we do such a calculation/formula?

Take a look to SUMIF function.

    Oh no. Stopped working.
    Neither SUMIF nor GETPIVOTDATA.
We added another column, one that is not part of the SUMIF condition but I wonder if it causes a problem

    Table1
    ColumnA ColumnB ColumnC
    1 Blue x 12
    2 Orange x 14
    y 15
    z 11
    3 Red 10

Re: Cell summing through referencing neighbor cell contents

    Table1
    ColumnA ColumnB ColumnC
    1 Blue______x_______12
    2 Orange___x_______14
    __________y_______15
    __________z_______11
    3 Red______________10

The problem is it only pics up the first value, the 14 when I look for condition SUMIF columnA=Orange.
The whole sum is actually only calculated when we minimize the pivot i.e. click on the little box. weird.
