    Replacing text just typed

I'm currently building a large spreadsheet which will require numeric codes to be within certain cells. At present these cells are filled with alphabetical codes and the person using them has little knowledge of the numbers, is there a simple way for them to type in the alphabetical code and it to then auto-replace it with the numberical?

How about using Vlookup in an adjacent column. If you are not familiar with vlookup then view this

You will have to set up a table with both values

Unfortunately for the specific function having the information pull through into another table wouldn't work. What I'm looking for (hopefully) is something where they can type in the code AAA into cell B10 and it will look in the table B1:C50 and replace the cell text in B10 with the code 123. Is there a way of doing that?

It would require a VBA solution. If you post a sample spreadsheet, I am sure someone here on the forum can supply you with a solution.

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to make it clear what is needed. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are demonstrated, mock them up manually if needed. Remember to desensitize the data.

Many thanks. I've attached a sample now, it's something which would be replicated on a large scale so I'm hoping it's fairly straightforward

That code is just what I need, but I can't seem to get it to fit with the structure I need!
