Formula tp ca;culate hours worked using military hours and standard minutes

I am looking for a formula to calculate totals time worked for the day using military hours and standard minutes.
For example "In" at 8:00 "Out" at 11:30 "In" at 12:00 "Out" at 4:30. The formula I am using does not convert the minutes.
Here is the formula I am using:

    =((D11-C11)+(F11-E11))/100

I don't see what the /100 is for?

It should just be a straight addition of the 2 seperate time differences.
    =(D11-C11)+(F11-E11)

The 100 is to convert in to total hours worked for the day in standard format.
Using the formula I currently am using returns a total hours for the day as 7.6 when it should be 8

I still don't understand how deviding by 100 converts a value to a time or vice versa.
what are the actual values in C11:F11 ?
    Are they just numbers like 8 11.5 12 16.5 ?

Can you post a sample book?
