How to calculate daily hourly rate as well as overtime rate on a weekly basis?!

Hi, I am having trouble finding a formula to incorporate both the hourly rate and overtime rate weekly.

I am trying to create a formula that multiplies the "hourly rate X total hours weekly" IF the total hours are less than 44 hours.

But, if the total hours are greater than 44 hours, then every hour after 44 should be multiplied by the overtime rate only.

I am struggling to find a formula that incorporates these elements.



I have a column for Overtime hours worked, which doesn't mean these hours are paid by the overtime rate, because by the end of the week, the total could still be under 44 hours.

If someone could provide insight on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

It is always better to attach an example, because lots of words can be confusing.

However, suppose you have the total hours worked in A1 (say 48), the normal rate in B1 (say $5.00) and the overtime rate in B2 (say $5.50).

This formula will give you the payment: =IF(A1<=44,A1*B1,44*B1+(A1-44)*B2) = $242.00
