    Adding times together

I am trying to add the total time of 643 events. I have the start time subtracted from the end time to give me each individual events total time, at the bottom I am trying to put a total time for all events but it keeps displaying 14 hours and 13 minutes even though it should be somewhere around 500 hours. Re: Adding times together

Select cell C646, right-click and choose Format Cells, then on the Number tab choose Custom and enter this format string in the dialogue box:

    [hh]:mm:ss;@

Click OK and it will show 662:13:00

The square brackets around the hh cause it not to wrap at 24 hours, which a normal time format does.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Adding times together

Excel is probably correct. You are misinterpreting the results. Your format is in time and the result is 27 days, 14 hours and 13 minutes.
The 27 days is being truncated. If you format the cell as a decimal number you will probably get 27.59.
If multiply by 24 (hours per day) you will get probably get 662.22 hours.
