    Index Match Match problem

    Hi I wonder if and how I can use a Index Match formula instead of this which take quite som time to process:

    E11: {=SUM(($B6=INPUT!$G$5:$G$988)*(F$3=MONTH(INPUT!$B$5:$B$988))*(INPUT!$F$5:$F$988))}

    Month (1-12) in E3:P3

    The formula is from my personal budget (see attached file) where I import banking transaction directly to my Input page.
    I just add the account ID in INPUT!G5:G988 to place the transaction in the corresponding account in page 2013.

    So how to sum transactions in INPUT!E column which match the same month and ID in the 2013 page.
    In addition is it possible to include both the in -and out column in the formula so I don't have to change formula
    based on income and expenses. (Sorry for any poor english).

    for expenses e10 cell
    =IFERROR(INDEX(INPUT!$E$5:$E$35,MATCH(1,(E$3=MONTH(INPUT!$B$5:$B$35))*(INPUT!$G$5:$G$35='2013'!$B10)*(VALUE('2013'!$B$2)=YEAR(INPUT!$B$5:$B$35)),0)),0) CSE

    Personally, I would use SUMPRODUCT. Ideally, define Dynamic Named Ranges so that you only operate on cells with data rather than a fixed column length.

    But, better, convert the input data to a Table and then you can use structured Table references, albeit still with SUMPRODUCT.

    See the attached updated workbook.

    Thank's, great improvement
    The use of a table of course made it a lot more clearly.

    For curiosity, how would you use a sum-index-match funtions in this workbook?

    Not a clue. I wouldn't do it and see no value in looking for a less than optimal solution.

    The CSE means use Ctrl-Shift-Enter to commit the formula, rather than just Enter, as it is an Array Formula.

    Copy and Paste the formula into the Formula bar and then press Ctrl-Shift-Enter.
