Adding months to dates and calculating beginning of next quarter

I'm working on a spreadsheet that reflects a hire date and I need to add 6 months to that date. Further, I need to reflect in another column the first date of the next quarter.
    For example
    Hire date 2/15/12
+ 6 months 8/15/14 (Note I need the year to be current)
    1st Qtr following 6 month date 10/1/14 (this is based on QTR dates 1/1, 4/1, 7/1, 10/1)
    Any suggestions would be great
