What formula can I use to format Dates?

I have a list of dates by DD/MM/YYY and I have been trying to use =text(A2,"mm-yy") this formula does not give me the result that I need. Please help. See examples below:

    28/06/2013 = Jun13

    08/08/2013 = Aug13

    16/10/2013 = Oct13

    You want
    =text(A2,"mmmyy")
If it' not working, check to see if A2 is a number (dates are numbers)
    =ISNUMBER(A2)
    ChemistB
    My 2?

substitute commas with semi-colons if your region settings requires
