multiplication in one cell but result in another??

i put 18*1000 in one cell without showing the result in that cell, but want the result to show in another cell without typing the multiplication in the second cell again... any help? thanks!

Assuming you will type 18*1000 to a1 cell then
=LEFT(A1,FIND("*",A1)-1)*RIGHT(A1,LEN(A1)-FIND("*",A1))
