Unhappy reference cell in another workbook

Using Excel 2010, when I open a summary workbook that contains references to other workbooks in the same folder and click "update links", I receive a #VALUE error message in each cell with a reference. My formulas are similar to the following:

I created the formula by opening both the summary workbook and the referenced workbook, entering the formula name in the cell in the summary workbook, selecting the cells in the referenced workbook, completing the formula and then closing the referenced workbook.

The summary workbook will be viewed by other users and I don't want them to have to open each referenced workbook in order to view the contents.

Re: reference cell in another workbook

Thank you! This works fine. I really appreciate the time that you took for your reply. So, all I need to do to reference cells in another workbook is to <Ctrl><Shift><Enter>, rather than just <Enter> after I select the cells.

However, COUNT(IF(... does not give me the correct answer. This gives me the number for all of the rows, not just the ones with the "yes" value.
