Excel doesn`t check if the links inside cells are online when clicking

Hello guys,

I`m encountering a problem. I`ve reinstalled Windows on my work computer.
My job is as an network engineer. I have to fix connections all day. I`ve made a table witch stores in first column the name of the connection, the second column containing the IP addres of that connection (with an "http://" add so it can be clickable).
Before resinstall I used Excel to verify if the connection is up, because if I clicked a link that`s offline, Excel would freeze until I would press Escape or the link would get online.
It had helped me a lot.
Now, I click an IP (EG http://1.1.1.1 ) and nothing happens in Excel, I can still use it and edit stuff in Excel, it would just return a message in seconds/minutes "Unable to reach [..]"
Do you happen to know what can I do to fix this?

I`ve tried both of your solutions:

1) Adding a ForceShellExecution in
32-bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Common\Internet
64-bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Common\Internet

Well I don`t have that key in my registry.
Done that in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\Internet

But nothing new happened.

2) I`ve constructed the hyperlink, it`s clickable, but it still doesn`t wait for a response.
