Ignore error when pasting into range that contains protected cells

Hi I have two excel documents and I want to paste data from one to the other.

On the second sheet I have cells with formulae's in which I've locked for protection because I don't want them to be over written. I want to copy a load of data from the first sheet and paste in into the second sheet ignoring any of the protected cells. However if I just try and paste the data it comes up with an error because it's trying to over write the protected cells.

Any help would be appreciated. I'd rather not use a macro if possible.

When you paste, Excel insists on a contiguous rectangular destination. If that is not the case here, then I think macros are your only option.
