    Hi,

take a look at the sumif function. In you example sheet, in cell B67

    =SUMIF($A$2:$A$59,A67,$B$2:$B$59)
    Rule 1: Never merge cells
    Rule 2: See rule 1

You might also consider using a Pivot Table based on a dynamic named range.

    Couple of suggestions:

    1. Place your totals at the top of the sheet for easier viewing and to allow your data to expande down the rows without the need to insert rows

    2. Create dynamic named ranges for the data columns and use these as the range reference in the formulas. As data is added/deleted, the SUMIF formula will stay uptodate w/o need to adjust range references.

    =SUMIF(Dept,A67,AP1)

    Where:
Dept = dynamic named range for "dept" column
AP1 = dynamic named range for AP1 column

As a general rule, data and reports should be kept on separate sheets.
