Unhappy averageifs for both row and column.

For the attached sheet i am attempting to do the following things,

    1. I am looking for the yearly average natural gas prices between 1990 and 2013.

When i attempt to do an average ifs command and make the criteria both the year and the source key i get an error.
    for example =AVERAGEIFS($B:$B,$2:$2,T7,A72:A95,W6)

    Workbook1.xlsx

Re: averageifs for both row and column.

    can you try this.
    Formula: copy to clipboard

    Note:

I used >= to include the "1990" year (that year in X6) .....

Use the averageifs adding another option for less than if you will be having averages between specific years like between 1992 and 1995

    Formula: copy to clipboard

Y1 is the reference range (upper year say 2014)
