Question How do I center all my fractions?

    Hello.

How do I make all my fractions align the same way?

Here is a screenshot of my problem: http://oi59.tinypic.com/28vzi8x.jpg

As you can see all my fractions are not aligned the same way: the 1s are aligned to the left, while the other fractions are (almost) aligned to the center.

When I select all my fractions and click on "Align Left" or "Center" or "Align Right" it doesn't fix the problem...

Thanks in advance for your answers.

I could nt open the link but athe reason might be blanks , you can use trim function then align.

I don't understand... What "blancks"? And what is the "trim function"?

If you can't see my screenshot, try this one: http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/965882EXCEL03.png

A sample spreadsheet, rather than a picture, might be more useful for helping us help you.

1st thing I notice is the little green triangles. What type of data are these -- "numbers stored as text" or are they actual numbers? If they are text strings, is it necessary for them to stay as text strings, or can we consider converting to numbers, or must they be converted to numbers?

Basic controls for aligning data in cells are in the alignment group on the home tab: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ex...987.aspx?CTT=1

Okay here is a sample spreadsheet with my problem:

    fractions.xlsx

As you can see, I inserted a formula on some cells, and then chose the format "fraction" to display my numbers as fractions. But they are not aligned with the 1s.

Re: How do I center all my fractions?

Can you describe the output you want?

Based on the current number format ("# ??/??"), Excel is formatted for mixed numbers (a b/c). The # tells Excel to only display the whole number portion if it is not 0 (0 will not be displayed). The ? tell Excel to not display insignificant 0's, but to keep the space. So, this number format will keep the whole number portion of each value aligned, and will keep the fraction part aligned on the /. So, one could argue that Excel is aligning the values exactly as you have told it to. (You should be able to see this if you use 0's "0 00/00" so that it displays 0's for each placeholder).

Perhaps you simply want each value centered? A number format using all # might be more ("# ##/##") appropriate for what you want.

If not, I might suggest a review of this (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ex...372.aspx?CTT=1) for instructions on the different parts of number formatting. A better explanation of how you want the values aligned would also be needed.

Thank you MrShorty, your "# ##/##" format worked =)
