Make cell reference column variable + row absolute?

I have read meanwhile dozends of articles and comments about absolute and relative cell references.

But I found nowhere an example on how to make a the column part of a cell reference variable and the row absolute.

    Is

    K$10

    a valid expression?

In opposite to $K10 is must work this way

    Yes, both are correct.

K$10 holds the row absolute and the column variable

$K10 holds the column absolute and the row variable

$K$10 holds both column and row absolute

    Yes, that is valid. $K$10, K$10, $K10, K10

Yes, you need to use K$10 if you want the row to be absolute and the columns to be variable.
