Bizarre issue going on in Excel 2010

For some reason, and of course it is not consistent...but when I open an Excel spreadsheet it will not allow me to click on any tabs, make any formatting changes, etc. until I resize the window and then voila magically I can do whatever the heck I want. I tried running a repair on MS2010, but that did not help. I tried doing a rollback on my computer thinking maybe something got installed that whacked it out--that didn't work. Also, closing the file and reopening it works to fix the problem. And again, it doesn't always happen--there is no consistency to the problem. It does happen enough to be annoying though. I just realized that minimizing the window resets it so now I don't have to completely close it down and reopen when it does happen. Any thoughts???
Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!

Are you opening the files from within Excel or via another program such as Windows Explorer? Do you have the file preview pane showing in Explorer?

Re: Bizarre issue going on in Excel 2010

I suspect the file has been sent to you from someone who uses a higher screen resolution than you, and so the window is too large to use on your PC when in "Restore" view. Just click on View | Window | Arrange All | Horizontal then OK, and then you will be able to access the tabs at the bottom of the window. When you save the file, Excel will remember the screen resolution that you have used.

    Hope this helps.

No macros (that I know of--but I will check!)
I thought it was contained to a template that I had created on a laptop with a different version of Excel, but when I copied and pasted the information into a new document it gave me the same problem! I will double check the macros--as I am open to all suggestions.

Good question, I thought of that and have tried it both ways and get the same results.

Accessing the tabs was never a problem, thanks though
