Get data from several seperate files to appear in a designated file

    Hi Folks,
    Here's a general question.
I have several separate Excel files that are all formatted in the same way.
I want all this data, excluding the header rows, from those separate Excel files, to appear in a new/designated Excel file. - I don't want to keep copying and pasting.
I also want the data, once extracted/copied/exported, to be formatted according the formatting style on the designated Excel file.
    Can this be done?
    If so how?
    Does this require VB script?
Elaborate any simple methods you may know.
    Thank You

    Hi Doofus1

I can think of 2 ways using VB script, depending on your requirement.

One is to specify the names of each of your "several" files (and also their path, if not the same as the master file).
The other is to gather the data from all files from the directory in which your master file resides.

    Which do you want?

    Regards
    Alastair

(and I prefer to simplify any elaborate methods )

Re: Get data from several seperate files to appear in a designated file

    Hi Aydeegee,
The easiest method would be fine.
    So here's what's happening.
All the Excel files appear in one folder.
The Excel files are never the same.
They will have name or date designations that change.
The data in the Excel files changes but the formatting remains the same.
The main file/directory is named EXPORT 6-27-2014, EXPORT 6-28-2014, EXPORT 6-29-2014 etc (based on the day).
The individual files in the main file/directory are named USA-6-27-2014, UK-6-27-2014, SNG-6-27-2014 etc on one day and this may change the next day eg EXPORT-6-28-2014 may contain UK-6-28-2014, FR-6-28-2014, GER-6-28-2014
I want the data files in EXPORT 6-27-2014, EXPORT 6-28-2014, EXPORT 6-29-2014 etc to appear in another file that i have named DAILY-6-27-2014, DAILY-6-28-2014, DAILY6-29-2014 etc (based on the day).
Sorry about the long winded explanation.
    any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thank You

    Hi Doofus1

If you could upload a saple of the layout of the Files within the EXPORTxxx directory it will make things easier (ie I will not have to guess!)

    Hi Alastair,
    Thanks for replying.
Right now I'm travelling - and don't have access to the files.
Will post them for your review on the weekend.
    Probably Saturday evening.
If you could look at the files and make any suggestions at that point - it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you
