Problem with formula for finding first non empty cell and make the sum/adding an amount

Hi,

Kind of difficult (or maybe not) to explain my issue. I've attached an example file so it's more clear for those amongst you that can help me out here.
What formula to use if I want to add a fixed number (in my case +1) to the "above" first cell in a column that is not empty?
For example: cell A10 has value 5, cell A11 has 6, A12 has 7, A13 has nothing (or 0), A14 needs to have 8. I'm looking for a proper formula to accomplish that as the scenario can change where for example: A10 has 5, A11 has nothing, A12 has nothing, so A13 needs to have 6.
Hope I'm making myself clear here.

Perfect !! Thanks a lot. I was trying something with SUMPRODUCT: =SUMPRODUCT((--(B4:B7<>""))) which returns the correct not empty cells (3) but it should return "" and that's what your formula does. Nice, very nice.
