Finding an Average of multiple ratings

    Hi

I've searched around a bit and haven't been able to find anything to solve my problem so was wondering if anyone can help?

I have a number of rankings, all from different spreadsheets that I wish to combine and average out.

Thus far I have pulled all the relevant worksheets into 1 spreadsheet. The issue I'm having is that each worksheet contains slightly different names.

So as an example, Sheet1 may have 4 columns: Bob Hope | 4 | SE | PM |
    Sheet 2 may have 2 columns: | Bob Hope, PM, SE | 8 |
    Sheet 3 may have 3 columns: | Bob Hope, SE | PM | 9 |

What I need to do is have a master sheet which just pulls through the name and then the average of the scores, i.e.: | Bob Hope | 7 |

I have approximately 400 people that I need to do this with.

    Thanks for any advice!

Seems you need to rearrange your data so they line up. This can be done via 'Text to Columns' and the concatenate function. If you're unfamiliar with these processes and would like someone to organize it for you, feel free to upload the file.

    Hi

I had considered this method to strip the text out but as some users have 3 names this seems a lengthy way of doing it. Also a couple of sheets are connected to data sources so I don't want this to break when anything is updated.

I suppose I was asking of a method (possibly a macro) to search for similarities, i.e a macro that would search for matches in the first two words (as the name is always first) and then return that data.

In my head it would be probably be a search whereif word1 and word2 = word1 and word2 return rank then increment.......

I don't know if that helps make it any clearer or not?

Will the first column always have the person's name in it? And will the score always be in its own column?
