Help Needed transfering data across workbooks

I need some help transferring data across two work books I have.

Every month I get sent sales figures of products, from now I have been typing in every sales figure which is long and boring. So I was wondering whether there is a way to make excel match the products on each workbook (mine and the one I get sent) seeing as there is a product number on both workbooks and then have excel automatically fill in the field I type manually which are quantity and value. So excel would see on the one workbook that product X has sold 10 units with 1000 value and then would go across to my workbook and fill that in the area I need on mine matching from the product code?

I hope you can help as it would save a lot of time

    Many Thanks

Should be possible. Can you upload a sample workbook showing the data you'd like to import?

Re: Help Needed transfering data across workbooks

I've attached examples of both workbooks.

So the first is the one I have and the second is an example of one I get sent. Because the orders of the product aren't the same and some months some product don't get sold so aren't on the list so it can't be a simple copy and paste. So is there a way of getting the quantities and values off the second work book to go automatically in the cells I need in the first book?

    Thanx for the help

I copied the sheet from the 2nd file into the first (so you don't need Ex. 2 open for the equation to work).

Great! Works perfectly apart from for some reason 1 product never copies over - row 45 on your example never copies over for some reason always just blank

Your numbers are stored as text, so the formula only works if the product number on both pages is text. Copy A45 from the second sheet and paste it into C17 on worksheet 'T3'. Then it should work.
