    Multiply a range of cells by a cell reference w/o changing hard coded values?

    I am trying to multiply a range of cells by a cell reference. The cells currently have hard coded values in them. I know with past special you can multiply a range of cells by a copied #. I want a similar function to that just instead of a copied cell its a cell reference. No VBA.

    Thanks,

    eg. if you have a list of numbers from A1 to A5 and the cell reference D1 , refer to the below formula apply in A1 and drag down.
    The reference should be absolute $D$1 .

    =A1*$D$1 ......
    =A5*$D$1

    Not quite what I am looking for. I have a column with hard coded values and would like to multiply those values by the same exchange rate (cell reference). If I apply formula as "Bhuvi" said the hard coded values change to the first cells value.

    Hi,
    Because you said no VBA, I don't think you can do this in the same cells. It sounds like you already know how to do this problem using the copy function.

    What exactly are you looking for?

    In Column A:

    A1=1.5

    A3=2
    A4=4
    A5=5

    I would like to know if there is a quick way to multiply all 3 of the values in column A by the cell A1. (A3=2*A1; A4=4*A1; A5=5*A1). If I copy the formula down the cells will all contain the first hard coded value.
