    Conditional Formatting Formula

    Hi Folks

Cell I2 has a value pasted in from a csv. file.

Cell L2 has a value from another Formula in the sheet.

I need to colour I2 IF the value in it is GREATER than the value in L2

Have tried many formulas to no avail.

    Cheers

    Re: Conditional Formatting Formula

The CF formula is as basic as they get:

    =I2>L2

Apply that formula and the color of your choice to cell I2.

But you use the phrase "pasted in from a CSV" to describe what you're doing to I2. If you PASTE one cell over another, it usually loses previous formatting including Conditional Formatting. If you do a Paste Special > Values, you can keep that from happening, but people forget.

If there were an adjacent cell where you were not pasting into, you could put the CF in that cell safely.

    Re: Conditional Formatting Formula

    Hi JB

When I highlight and copy data from my csv file to paste into my worksheet it does not give me the option to paste special>values, instead I get a different options box for "text" etc.

Not sure what is happening there?

    Thanks

    Re: Conditional Formatting Formula

Okay, I got the paste special>value working.
The other thing is that the data is then "sorted by" another Col. Would this make any difference as the CF is still not working for me.

    Thanks

Thanks JB, I was able to paste the data into another Col and it is now working okay.
    Thanks for your time.
