    Lookup(Index(Match))

I have a dataset where I am scoring items using an Lookup Index and Match formula. For the most part, the formula works, but in a few instances I am receiving an n/a. Just wanted to see if anyone knew of any possible reasons why the N/As would be there?

The items can't be fournd with your formula (they don't exist) in your datarange.

That will give a #N/A faillure

    Re: Lookup(Index(Match))

here is an example of the formula:

    =LOOKUP(C14,INDEX('Class Summary'!$B$3:$E$5,MATCH(B14,'Class Summary'!$A$3:$A$5,0),0),{4,3,2,1})

The lookup should pull a 4,3,2,1 provided that C14 falls within the range of B3:E5, right? I would send an example, but the file that I am working in is too large to for the forum and references multiple worksheets.

Probably this is the threat your working on.

    http://www.excelforum.com/excel-gene...ing-ifs-2.html

In that case it would be great if you asked your question in that threat

    or

(in this treat) refer to that threat so forummembers can see which solutions are already offered.

Yeah, that was my original thread. I marked it as solved. Didn't know whether I should start a new thread or not.
