Viewing formula in a cell when I select it

Hi, recently when I'm using my excel sheet (2013) when I click on the cell it then shows the formula and clicks inside it. My 'show formula' is not selected, and it's causing some bother by selecting and adding cells into the formula. I'm only clicking once with my mouse, but notice that this normally happens if you click twice. Is this an issue with my mouse or is there a property that I need to change in my cells? Will be grateful for any help, haven't ever come across this before

Re: Viewing formula in a cell when I select it

    Thanks, that's done it.

OK, so in order to see all the Formulas on the worksheet, I need to go to the Formulas tab on the Ribbon & select 'Show Formulas'.

Otherwise normally, if I want to see what is inside a Cell, a Value OR a Formula, I can just select that Cell.

If I click again OR double click, I will see the Formula in the Cell.

I've done this on your worksheet and it works OK.

Can you describe exactly what's wrong in the worksheets behaviour?

Hi, thanks for your reply! My problem is that it is selecting the formula with one mouse click (when we only want to select the value) which I guess from your reply means that it is an issue with the mouse rather than the excel, seeing as it should only select the formula if it is clicked on twice?

Possibly, have you got your mouse setup to your normal Left Click/Right Click settings?

Try Both Right & Left Click to see.

Hi there, the mouse clicks were set correctly but I guess it must be double clicking by itself - time for a change of mouse!
