Excel 2003 dropping blank rows from csv file. 2010 does not drop. I need the blank rows

    Hi,

I'm new but have searched the forum and googled the web for a solution but found that what I want is opposite to what others want.

I have CSV files generated by a program that essentially has data in 2 tables that have 25 rows each. The CSV file genrated will include \n as line breaks for the rows in the table with no data so that the 2 tables are always 25 rows apart

When I import the CSV into excel 2010, the worksheet will show empty rows if there is no data in the table and the 2 tables are always 25 rows apart. This is what I want.

In excel 2003, the same CSV is imported and excel seems to drop empty row such that the 2 tables are stacked on top of each other with no empty rows in between. So the 2 tables can be anywhere from 1-25 rows apart.

How do I get excel 2003 not to drop empty rows that are in the CSV file.

    Please help, need urgent help.
    Dennis

Could it be that XL2003 requires \r\n (CR\LF) for empty rows to show?

    Please need help.

Maybe I should be more specific as there can be other work arounds besides reconfiguring the program to output CSV in a particular format.

I have a master worksheet that has all the formulas pointing to another worksheet in the same workbook. The VBA code allows me to select the CSV file to load and it is copied onto the data worksheet that the formula worksheet references. So if the number of rows between the 2 tables are not kept constant my references will be all worng.

Is there some kind of logic that I can put into my formula worksheet formulas that reference the data worksheet that reads rows (filled with numerical data) until it hit text (headers of next table) and stop and then continue reading from the numerical portion of the next table?

If so, then I also need to know how to reference the second table as it would mean it can start at any row depending on how many rows the first table has

    Thanks
