Lookup and enter using text search

Hi there, I have found several functions (like LOOKUP) that will do this for values, but not text.

I have two sheets. The only commonality between them is a name. THere are about 400 names. Sheet 1 has name + salary. Sheet 2 has name + hours. How do I get name + salary + hours for the correct name into one spreadsheet?

Use vlookup, just put a zero as the last argument. For example:

    Formula: copy to clipboard

It will search the value (e.g. name) found in A1 in column X and return the corresponding value in column Y. The last argument being zero means that it has to be an exact match. I have a thread dedicated to this called Advanced VLookup. It contains lot of examples and turn-key solutions.
