New PC, Excel can't see new DSN's

    Hi All,

I have a strange problem today. I have a brand new PC, Windows 7, Excel 2013. When I create a new data source in the "Data Sources ODBC" program in control panel excel does not find them and I can't use them. I have found where I can add paths to excel but don't know where the DSN files are saved. Search does not find them. can anyone help with this. This is one of the first PC's that our company has added using the 64 bit windows. The problem will undoubtedly have to do with that. I think I could sort it if I could find where the files are stored.

    Regards,

With Excel open, if you open task manager(Ctrl+Shift+ESC), click on the Processes tab at the top, and you see a *32 after the EXCEL.EXE, then you're running 32 bit excel and you'll need to explicitly launch: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe to configure the 32 bit DNS. Without the *32 you're running 64 Bit Excel and you'll need to configure your DNS via C:\Windows\system32\odbcad32.exe

even though the default system32 one will display the SysWOW64 ones, you cannot edit them...
