Functions/Formulas for cells with text information

Hello and thank you in advance for the assistance.

For starters, I am no where near an expert in Excel.
I am looking for help with a particular problem and it may just be easier to give the example than try and explain.

I have a list of firm names that the company I work for gets paid from in a "key" that shows the company name and the % of the charge our company charges to perform each job.

Firm 1 pays x%
Firm 2 pays y%

and so on...

On another sheet I have the company I work for pays me a fee so on my commission page I have

Firms: Company Fee:
Firm 1 x%
Firm 2 y%

and so on...

I want to be able to automate my Excel sheets so that it will know based on what firm name is in a cell, what % it should use to calculate our fee.

Does anyone know how to do this?

You would almost certainly use VLOOKUP with the Firm's name as the search value and the list of Company Fees as the search, or lookup table.
