Could the type of file matter. Even a VLOOKUP will not work...

What is in A31? are they the same type in your range a24:a27? they should be both numbers or text type.

    are there leading/trailing spaces?

Edit: Yup double posting even on PM's. Started early this morning.

Add a column number (or post a workbook)
    =INDEX(A24:B27,MATCH(A31,A24:A27,0),2)
