    Web Data Links Constantly Breaking

    Hi all.

    I have an issue with importing web data.

    I am extracting tables of football (Soccer) data to Excel 2013.

    I have separate excel files for a variety of major worldwide leagues, with each file having multiple worksheets with different extracted tables in them.

    For days everything works well, but then almost all the links of this one particular type of table (in each of the separate files) gets corrupted.

    This happens at random intervals, mostly a few days apart but I have had longer periods of uninterrupted data importing.

    Today, however, the links have broken again despite re-doing them just yesterday.

    To me it seems as though the website I am referencing from is somehow re-'addressing' the pages the tables are being extracting from, but then I wonder why it is only this one particular type of table that it happens with.

    Any help would be very much appreciated.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In summary:
    - Multiple spreadsheets (one for each of about 20 different world soccer leagues)
    - Multiple worksheets within each file, each containing 2 separate sheets for 2 different web data extractions
    - The same data in each workbook gets corrupted every time (despite being different tables, due to different leagues)
    - The other data in each of the Excel files always stays in tact
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Thanks in advance for any pointers you may have.

    Matthew

    Re: Web Data Links Constantly Breaking

    Examine the links that get broken (copy the link so that you can compare it with what works) then re-establish the links and compare the links that work with the links that didn't work. It isn't uncommon for a website to change the URLs for the tables that you are accessing when they are updating data. If in fact the source URL is changing there is nothing that you can do about it other than re-establish the links.

    If the links are being broken at your end, it might be easier to create a new workbook with new links than it would be to troubleshoot what is going on to break the links.

    Thanks for your reply, Newdoverman.

    That makes sense. I will try it and report back.

    Much appreciated.
