How to Share Workbook with Tables?

I have a workbook full of tables and pivot tables. When I try to share it tells me to convert the tables to ranges or to something about XML.

Is there an easier way to do this?

    Thanks

Sorry pee - I see what you mean - thats what you did and got the err msg. let me have another look

Hi Peekay - I googled how to share a workbook!

Excel allows multiple people to access a workbook at the same time, if desired. This can be very handy when a workbook is in active use or development, and there are multiple people in your department who all have a hand in the process. You can share a workbook in this way:

1.Load the workbook you want to share.
2.Display the Review tab of the ribbon.
3.Click the Share Workbook tool, in the Changes group. Excel displays the Share Workbook dialog box. (Click here to see a related figure.)
4.Choose the Allow Changes check box.
    5.Click on OK.
This is the simplest way to share access to a workbook. There are other options available in the Share Workbook dialog box that should be examined, however. Notice that the dialog box also lists the users currently accessing the current workbook. It should go without saying that when you first share a workbook, you are the only user that will be listed in the dialog box. However, if you again display the Share Workbook dialog box at a later time (such as when you are thinking of turning sharing off), there could easily be multiple users listed.

Notice, as well, that the Share Workbook dialog box also contains an Advanced tab. This tab is where you can specify how changes should be handled by Excel.

The whole idea behind sharing a workbook among multiple users is that Excel tracks any changes made and then at a later date you merge together everyone's work. The Advanced tab is where you indicate how you want Excel to prepare for this future time. Here you can specify how changes should be tracked, when changes should be updated, and what to do if Excel detects a conflict between changes specified by two or more users.

Re: How to Share Workbook with Tables?

Hello I just had this problem and I found out an easy way to avoid it. The problem occurs if you try to share the workbook after you have created your tables so you should create a new blank document and start with sharing it and then proceed creating your tables or simply copy-paste them from your old document and it will work.

Sorry for bumping this 3 year old thread but I think it might help someone as this thread is the first thing that comes up if you google it.

Question Re: How to Share Workbook with Tables?

Sleipner, can you cclarify how you have managed to do that??

I have opened a new workbook, shared the document and then copied my data in but the option to format as a table is greyed out and unavailable - as it's a shared document...

I'd be really grateful if you could clarify how you've managed to share it with a table in.
