Is there a way to copy and paste many rows of data into a single column?

I have many rows of data that I want to paste in one single column vertically. I tried using transpose, but it copies and pastes all the items into multiple columns. I just want all data in one column.

is there a shortcut for this?

Yes, but you will need a help column.
for example you have data from col.A thru E, and from row.1 thru 10; put a formula such as "=A1&B1&C1&D1&E1" in col.G (your help column), copy down. Next copy col.G & paste value to next column H (do this if you don't want to mess around with your original data). Good luck
