Sorting one field with letters and numbers

Hello all,
I have a table that I has room numbers that contain letters and numbers. A simply sort will not work because some field just contain numbers while others have Hyphens. I would like to sort them consecutively 142, 142-03, 142-09,

Try this array formula

=INDEX(B$2:$B$18,MATCH(SMALL(COUNTIF(B$2:$B$18,"<"&B$2:$B$18),ROWS(A$1:A1)),COUNTIF(B$2:$B$18,"<"&B$2:$B$18), 0))

...confirmed by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to activate the array, not just ENTER. You will know the array is active when you see curly braces { } appear around your formula. If you do not CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER you will get an error or a clearly incorrect answer. Press F2 on that cell and try again.
