    Need advice on design of this profit / loss spreadsheet.

    I am trying to simply the process for calculating a surplus / deficit figure.

    The basic idea is that applicants must complete a worksheet calculate a profit/loss figure for each area they are involved in

    Is it possible to simply this process - possibly via the use of a database approach or a cleverer layout?

    A couple of thoughts...

    Although I have very little Excel experience, I would start by creating a page that holds all the auto-fill data and feed all pages from there. Then construct a “work” page where the necessary data is automatically filled and the user inputs whatever else is required.

    With respect to the need for increasing rows, it looks like the current layout is essentially multiple tables stacked (vertically). If they were organized horizontally then the need for a varying number if rows can be easily accommodated.

    Thanks for your reply. I'm ok with the auto-fill data using data validation, etc.
    There's a worksheet in my example called GMDatabase - this is where I planed to list all the possible GM sectors and call that using look-ups.
    However, my problem is, I don't know where to start on the design and was looking for some (practical) help.
