Require Help to define a Formula

hi to all experts,

Actually I am try to define a formula as follows :

if I put the Employee Number in cell No. A4 so I want relevant dates below of all listed item. Which should come through my source sheet name "Main".

such as employee No. 62 have take 3 items in 3 different days, so I want to reflect the dates below the same item which has been given to him.

in addition to that if employee no. 62 takes again the same item so it should reflect the value just below the item in descending order.

any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.

DEar Mr. mcmahobt,

1st of all thanks you to providing me valuable input.

According to your instruction i have applies the formula in H5 & dragged it into other cells but for other cell where the item not available its showing #N/A & i tried it to fix through if and iferror formula is not working.

I want to highlight one more thing which is that as you can see in my Main sheet Employee No. 62 is receiving 2 similar item in the same day i.e. 28-Jan-2015 but it didn't reflected there. Can we sort out his issue ?

On your query sheet, will you only be inserting one person's name at a time in C5? As in, will you only be interested in pulling the data for one person within your table E4:M14?

Glad to see you again,

let me explain you something,

The Main Sheet is my data entry which i am updating on daily basis by providing the items to all my employees as you can see there.

But in Query Sheet, i want a record of a single employee in order to know about his record i.e. what he gave received and by what date in ascending order by employee's number.

Hope i i tried to explain better than before.

Could you reupload a sample workbook with what you expect your data to look like? Because based upon what you have previously uploaded, I don't understand why Safety Dress should have two dates associated with it when there is only one Safety Dress for Hamed Ullha Hassan within the Main Sheet.

Using thread tools, you should be able to mark the thread as solved. Also, you may want to look into pivot tables for future (or even this) problem, as it is more flexible than formulas.
