Excel does not pull value from the cell - appears to pull formula

For simplicity sake,

Column A Column B Column C

Columna A=iferror formula results in either a number or a blank cell
Column B=If formula results in a number or "N/A"

Column C needs to be Column B-Column A

But every formula i have tried provides the #value error when
column B is "N/A"
OR when
Column B is a positive number and column A is blank
