Talking Is there a way of knowing how a spreadsheet is sorted?

    Hello,

I received a huge spreadsheet from another department. Before I star working on it, it would be helpful to know how it was sorted before it was sent to me. Is there any way of finding out how the creator sorte the many many columns without having to ask?

    Thanks!

    Not that I know of.
The Mk1 eyeball plus a dash of intuition is probably the only way.

But behind your stated question I detect an unasked one. Are you really wanting to know, "If I screw this up and sort it a different way, can I get back to the original order?", then the answer is Yes.

Just add a helper column and number the rows 1,2,3.....etc and make sure you include this helper column in any sorting you do. To get back just resort on the helper column.
