Links to External Workbook 'Breaking' for Pivot Table

Hello,

I have a workbook which is used a summary document for a multitude of other workbooks stored in a different location.

When I create a link to these workbooks for my pivot table, initially it works fine, I change the data to how I want it, save it then close the workbook.

When I revisit the workbook it tells me the links is no longer valid.

However even if I take a before and after copy of the link that the pivot table is pointing to they are exactly the same, it just no longer works

So for example the before and after links are both

'Q:\shared\2014\Data 2014\spreadsheets\File 2014.xlsx'!Sheet14_Table

'Q:\shared\2014\Data 2014\spreadsheets\File 2014.xlsx'!Sheet14_Table

All of this information is on a server if that makes any difference and I have tried putting in relative links but again I get the same error message of not a valid reference.

To add to the above, it only seems I have the problem when I try to reference a named table, if I reference a specific set of cells for example the links work fine. It doesn't want to let me reference a named table from another workbook though.

If your workbooks are connected with server on different locations then I would suggest you to check connection properties in excel file. I guess this issue might be due to connection
