    [SOLVED] Printing Extra Breaks

    Hi All,

I have a really frustrating problem that has only occurred after doing a complete reinstall of windows 7 / Office Pro 2010.

Print preview shows that all lines will fit on one page (which they always used to) however when I print, Excel inserts extra page breaks as it sees fit. It is almost like it is not producing a standard A4 sheet. I think it is an issue with my local settings since I have tried the following:
    • Tried on 2 Laptops running same windows version & exact office version produces expected results
    • all addins disabled
    • tried uninstalling / reinstalling
    • tried uninstalling, deleting remaining folders in program files and users as well as deleting everything in the registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14\Excel then reinstalling
    • Coping above registry tree from working laptop

It is not just this file that it effects (can upload others if required). It seems that anything with page breaks close to the end of the page will be effected. It is very difficult to layout my calculations correctly since I don't really know where Excel is going to place a page break and it is a nightmare for sharing files with existing machines and working with archived files.

Hopefully somebody has heard of this issue and can advise how to fix it - I would be very very grateful!!

    Many thanks,
    Jake

    Re: Printing Extra Breaks

I just checked the size of the two pages produced by the problem machine and the (working) laptop.

    Problem Machine - 8.5" x 11"
    Laptop - 8.27" x 11.69" (prints correctly)

Not sure if this extra information is any help? I can't understand what is happening since page size is set to A4 in both instances. Same problem occurs if printing to laser printer, adobe pdf, cute pdf etc.

    [SOLVED] Printing Extra Breaks

Solution found - turns out it was a as simple as looking at the Advanced/General options . I have never had any issues with this before but has definitely caused some head aches today!!

Sorry for all the posts, obviously I just needed to go in to melt down mode to work this one out. Now to hope all my tinkering with the registry doesn't create any new headaches for me....

    Regards Jake
