Create printed form to write data into

    Hello,
I want to design a basic form/sheet I can print out and fill in. I want it lined like a standard sheet of note book paper but divided into sections for example; the name some thing I ordered, the date I ordered it, where it's coming from, etc. Is there a tutorial for this kind of sheet? I am a beginner at Excel.

    Thanks

It sounds like you have not used excel much yet?

You can do this pretty easily in excel, the row heights and column widths are easy to adjust - click and hold on the bottom (or right) border and drap it to the size you want. You canthen put different things into different cells, make boxes atround them, add lines to write on, you name it

I suggest you start making something yourself, then come back and we can help you progress further

    Welcome to the forum.

Take a look under File, New in Excel. There are many templates available. Maybe one of them is close to what you want. If you find one that might be of use click on it. You may be prompted to download which is ok. The template will open. If it is not exactly what you want but close, make changes and save. You can upload the file here if you need help.

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and use the paperclip icon to open the upload window.

Sorry about the thread title. Thanks for all the help so far. I have just barely started looking at Excel but have seen the cool things other people have done with it.

Welcome to teh addictive world of excel then

See what you can do on your own (or check out the built-in templates). If you can put it on paper 1st, it will help you to visualise what you want

Well I started snooping around in the templates in Excel and two look good already, "Inventory List" and "Product Price List". I am messing with "Product Price List". I'll see if I can customize one of these or try different one.

    (I have Excel 2010 not 2007)

Re: Create printed form to write data into

the main differences btw 2010 and 2007 are mostly in the forumlas, so that is not really an issue

I suggest that you take a look at those templates, and try to make your own, based on what you like and changing what you dont like/need. I think it could be a good excercize f0or you to become familiar with some basic spreadsheet concepts and methodologies

Using a template gives you something that someone else t hought was good - building your own gives you something you think is good
