Daily Counts files linked to supervisor files

    Hey,

So I'm trying to create a file for me and my 8 other colleagues where we, on a weekly basis, keep track of our mails and calls received. I created a second workbook on the side for our supervisors which is updated daily/ weekly when they open it and get their needed data from it. the issue i'm having is that when i create the file, i can just use the typical =[Daily counts - NAME - Week X]Monday!$L$4 to get that single cell to it. but the week after that same file will be called a different name and it won't update in the supervisor file. How can I get it so that there's a permanent link between the two, even if the name changes?

Could you name the file CURRENT rather than the date (or whatever naming system you are using), and then rename it when you create the next "CURRENT". That way the other file will always look at the current weeks data?

I know this is a workaround rather than a solution but hey-ho!

Thanks, I'll try that and see if it makes a difference.

It didn't, so I decided to just have the supervisor "summary" as an extra sheet, referencing back to the previous daily sheets so that it's easy to check.

    Thanks for the help though!

if you rename the link in the supervisors file to:

    =[Daily counts - NAME - CURRENT]Monday!$L$4

and rename the same Week X to CURRENT in the worksheet it should always reference the sheet named current.

Then the following week rename as Week X and create a new current, then the supervisors sheet will see the new current automatically.

Let me know if I'm not being clear, babbling, or just talking nonsense. All are possible!
