White Space at begining of a number
Hello,
I have tried removing the white spaces at the start of this number ** 135 000 but there remains 2 spaces.
I have used Trim() and have tried find and replace the spaces with nothing.
I have reformatted the cell to number
I have tried clean()
None of these methods have worked.
Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated?

I hit against a particularly hard space at the beginning, I finally clicked into the cell and using the cursor highlighted the space before the numbers, then did a find and replace where I pasted the spaces into find and left blank the replace, then did replace all and that got rid of them. Give it a try to see if that works.

Could it be char(160), especially if the data has come from the web.

... or a zerowidth non breaking space, which defaults to char 63?
if you use =code(a1) what do you see, if a1 contains your problem number?

You're lucky. char 160 is a non-breaking space and it's easy to lose. If your data are in A1
=SUBSTITUTE(A1,CHAR(160),"")
will get rid of it. I can't remember, but you may need a -- at the start of the formula or a +0 at the end to turn it back into a number.
