Pivot table with text in the values field

    Hello everyone,

I'm triying to consolidate some data with textual aspects. I know that the value field in a pivot table is supposed to be numerical by essence, but I wanted to know if it's possible to tell Excel using a vlookup function to look up for a value adding a condition on another value of the data set. It's easier to understand in the example attached.

Thanks a lot for your help

Re: Pivot table with text in the values field

    Hello Oeldere,

Thank you for you answer. However, it's not exactely what I wanted to do. In your pivot table, the subs appear in row, while I want them to be in column. What I want is a Matrix where the risk level is a field value at the intersection of a risk (row) and a subsidiary (column). Do you know how I could do that ? Is there a way of putting more parameters in the Vlookup function so that it returns the value based on two conditions appearing in the data set ?

    Thanks in advance

    M.

Ok Thanks a lot. That's the answer I was looking for. The Index and Equiv function are perfectly suited for that.

    Thanks again

    Have a nice day
