Auto populate and categorize calendar entries based on data ranges

    Hello!

I am trying to have the calendar in the second tab of the attached excel file to auto populate based on information in the first tab. In the first tab, there is the start and end dates of certain projects. The calendar will need to show the project name (once) across the corresponding date ranges (there are examples in this website showing the project name every day but that is not what I want). There can be multiple projects taking place on the same date. In addition, I need the calendar to be populated for projects added or dates modified. It will be nice if each project can be shaded with the category color (but I can live without it).

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Well, the problem is not as easy as it seems at the beginning (7+ hours since posted, 65 views, no answer so far).

One could try to use a macro similar to this in enclosed file.
If projects are added/modified, it shall be executed again, overriding existing calendar.

    Try it.

I included some security measures in the macro, so it shall deal with "typical problems (like start after finsh date or no dates, or date out of calendar scope - copy values from columns N:O into B:C to see what happens).

I (probably there is more such persons here) am not a big fan of cells merging, and usually try to avoid this, but just in this case, it seems to be reasonable. So if time allows, I'll add this feature later on.
