    Plot events along horizontal axis

I have a data set that I have used to compare probability of outcomes. With this I have created charts to display this. However, along the horizontal axis I currently have dates and would like to plot events onto this axis. They are currently displayed in the H column as 'tv, print, radio' but will eventually become more specific. How do I add these events to my horizontal 'timeline'.

Not a real chart expert, but I would say click into the middle of the chart to select it. Right click and choose select data.
Up at the top where it says chart data range it will look like this.

I would say you just add in the new column, so it looks like this.

I'm assuming this column will eventually be numbers similar to the other two columns. You will see anything until you put some numbers in, but you will see the column header as a legend down in the bottom of the chart.

    Good Luck!!!

Hmmmm. Column H is actually going to be specific events for each date such as 'broadcast of television debate' etc. I want to see if events have an effect on projected probability. So that's why I would like the events to be plotted on the horizontal axis by dates. Preferably the text sitting vertical to the date.

I would just add some "dummy" values to a column in to mark the position of the events, then add this column as an additional series. So, put 0 into I2, I4, I7, and so on, then add column I as an additional series. Then format this new series as marker without line. Error bars could be used to make a vertical line across the chart at each event point if desired.

As you can see in the workbook (sheet 1)I have various charts. Right now the x axis on those charts just shows a timeline of dates. I would like this axis to also include events (column H). I could insert markers for my own analysis. But for research presentation I would prefer to have the names of the events on the x axis corresponding to the date the events occurred.

Yes. Unless I am missing something I can't see any difference between that workbook and the one I uploaded. Are you sure you uploaded an updated workbook?
