    Date on conditional format problems!!

I have a problem I cannot resolve, so looking for some kind help from this forum.

    I have a cell [A1] with a date formated dd/mm/yy [27/02/2005] if I use formula

=IF(A1>TODAY, "Y","") which will show up as "Y".

If I use the conditional formating it acts as though the date in A1 is lower than TODAY().

I have tested the conditional formating with integers and everything is okay. So my problem appears to be something to do with the date format, what though???

Now resolved, I had copied a formula and forgot to delete an extra = sign.
