EXCEL taskbar buttons combining

Does anybody know why the EXCEL taskbar buttons will not stop combining? I am running 64-bit Windows 8 system with Office 10. I have set the taskbar properties so that the buttons never combine when multiple EXCEL files are open, but they insist on combining. It never used to happen when I first got the computer, but it is becoming more of a problem lately. Even when I hover the mouse over the icon, it only displays the latest file that I have opened on the preview, even if there are several files already open. WORD and ACCESS do not appear to have the same problem.

Can anybody help?

Thank you for asking. I thought I was stuck with the problem until you asked, and then I found the solution.
a. Right Click on the TaskBar
b. Properties
c. Select the 'TaskBar Buttons:' properties of your choice

Thanks Lewis, but if you read my post again, you will see that I have already chosen the option that says 'Never Combine'.
