    Column Location, formula changes

    Hello,

I was just given a report that contains upwards of 150 columns that contain data.
Another 186 that contain formula's based on the data columns.

My question is when someone moves or adds new data columns all the formula columns are impacted.
Is it possible somehow to avert this in the future because to fix all the formulas is a very large task?

    Fred

    Re: Column Location, formula changes

When a column is added or deleted the formulae usually adjust automatically so there's usually no need to change anything.

You could embed a column address using text and INDIRECT,e.g.

    =INDIRECT("C3")

the cell containing this formula will ALWAYS refer to C3 regardless of columns being added or moved as "C3" is text.

If you need further info could you post an example description of the problem.

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.
